Egads, It's Been Awhile...

I was sent the Virgin Digital Quiz a few days ago by a friend who obviously realises how silent Emma and The Blog has been and thought what better way to "kickstart" the ol' blogging juices by making me do a music quiz and perhaps write about it. It's a fantastic quiz and therefore should be shared with the rest of the world who hasn't tried it (although it has been around since 2005 and I am an uninspired bloated hormonal GoodEgg who seems to have lost her blogging mojo so sue me).

But I digress.

The idea is folks, to identify 75 BAND/ARTIST NAMES contained within the picture. For example, Guns N Roses and Eagles, to name the more obvious. It was part of a promotion for Virgin Digital which allowed music geeks to "Exercise Their Music Muscle". I managed 35 and then gave up, so I found the rest of the answers here and here.

Ramadhan

During the month of Ramadan, observant Muslims around the world start a month of fasting. The Muslims in Brunei are no different. Between dawn and sunset, we try our very best not to eat, drink, smoke, pick our nose. There are of course, exceptions, for the sick and infirm and the like. Undertaking religious activities and thinking good, pure thoughts are encouraged. Lustful and angry thoughts are not. I feel that food and drink taste extra special during Ramadan. And after breaking fast at sunset, we are encouraged to perform the tarawih.

Most of us will wake up to have an early breakfast (called sahur) pre-dawn, or for when we're feeling trendsome, head out around midnight to have sahur in restaurants like Dynasty in Centerpoint, Gadong.

And when the new moon arrives, it's time to celebrate Hari Raya where we get dolled up, consume cakes and carbonated drinks for a month.

This picture I found on Flickr was from a year ago today. The picture was actually auctioned off for the Red Cross charity to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims.

It was raining heavily in town and the sky still looks gray and despondent, so hopefully these pretty umbrellas will provide some cheer...

Not that I am in the know, but according to the comments made on the photo, the photographer used a 3 second exposure on this shot. The result is breathtaking, supercool and tsunami-scary.

I don't know what that means either...but I'm guessing it says, LadyBug...on a leaf. Its beautiful though and if I could have a tattoo, I'd have one of a ladybug on my right hip bone.
