Bobby : Ohh my sayang ohh my sayang.
Mimi : Wek wek wek wek wek!!
Bobby : Jangan kata bapa cruel changing your nappy, inda berFAEDAH tu.

Now THAT got me awake, because an alien kidnapped Bobby and replaced him with a Malay teacher.

Saying Goodbye To The Bijou Bungalow

After 2 and a half years of living in The Bijou Bungalow, it is time for the GoodEggs to move home. We do so with a heavy heart because there are many positive things about living in a bungalow. I thought we did ours up pretty well. There are no stairs and everything is within 20 steps away, and since we planted hedges, shrubs and trees, the garden turned out swell too. We renovated the floors, kitchen and bathrooms. Restored the old furnitures. Bobby even fashioned the pool inspired by the Amankila pools we swam in.

I have posted many a picture of the bungalow, and spoke fondly of it, so its no secret how moving from the Bungalow muchly sucks eggs. But yes party people, it has to be done.

We won't be moving far. Just across the fence. A house full of history Bobby says. We'll make it a nice home no doubt. But I will always miss the home we've made here.

Raya Musings

Hari Raya will be different this year, with Mimi around. A different kind of good. I would still ask for forgiveness from my nearest and dearest, and offer my own, wolf down my Mommy's chocolate fork biscuits and rendang. And I would still have flat hair. But this time I have a baby on my hip.

Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir Batin folks. Remember to eat and drink too much as Raya will not be the same if you refrain. Be careful on the roads though.

My Name Is Grog

I am not so much a rugby fan. I'm not sure I understand why people love watching grown men ram each other on a field for an odd shaped ball, but whenever a game of rugby comes on the TV, I cannot help but watch. It's kinda like when you can't tear your eyes off those bad accidents on Maximum Exposure. I suppose men watch the sport because there's a primal vibe about it and its a bit Macho-Macho-Man.

Anyhoot, I caught some of the France vs New Zealand match a couple of days ago and for the first time saw Sebastien Chabal who plays the Lock battering ram position for France in this World Cup. Long haired, bearded, scary as heck, the first thing I said about him might upset another religion, but apparently thousands of French women have become fans of rugby because of how manly Chabal looks. But he didn't always look like a Neanderthal called Grog as you can see below (pictures from timesonline):

Not all men look good with a beard.

And just like Viggo Mortenson as Aragorn in the movie trilogy Lord Of The Rings, a man who looks infinitely better with long unkempt hair plus facial hair, Chabal is totally phwooarrghlicious with his.

So ladies and guys, enjoy the Sebastien aka Sea Bass aka The Caveman aka Grog, the "antithesis to metrosexuality".

Welcome To The World

Dear Mimi,

After what felt like a pregnancy reminiscent of a pachyderm, we finally welcomed you into the world with the minimum of fuss except that Mama could not feel her legs. Suddenly there you are, a wrinkly little girl whose testament to the science of genetics is obvious as I gazed at you for the first time and exclaimed, “Oh my goodness you look exactly like your father!”

I carried you for nine months my darling (at times it felt like two years) and as far as I can see, God wasn’t paying much attention when he was doling out the genes for Mama’s side of the family. But I am hopeful that some of my latent characteristics will rub off. Why just the other day you slept in during a public holiday! Also, you may have Mama’s unruly eyebrows that would need shaping and filling in with a skilled hand in your later years. Be thankful that you will have a Mama that will teach you this important skill.

Since we left the hospital, you and I have been spending all our waking hours together. We are trying to get into this rhythm of eating and feeding, which according to Gina Ford, is good for you and helps maintain our sanity. So its poo, pee, change, feed, sleep, play and walkabout, bathe…although not necessarily in that order. You have been a good little girl, sleeping through the nights and keeping to your schedule on most days. Your Mama on the other hand, has developed a nervous tick, as motherhood this time around at this God-forsaken age, is not easy. To your Papa’s credit, he has been a great help. He’s been put on Dirty-Diaper-Duty. Apart from making an initial mess at the hospital on his first time, he now does so with great aplomb and your tiny bottom gets really cleaned. He also reads Dr Spock for us (that's Dr Spock of the baby and childcare books and not so much Star Trek's "Live Long and Prosper") so that we're on the ball with all necessary baby facts.

A week after you were born, we had an “aqiqah” for you. Your father completed another right of passage and slaughtered a lamb in your name! The meat was then gifted to relatives. Your father came home with his tale of butchery and showed me a picture he took of your lamb. Poor lamb.

The lamb, sure it was cute, but you my darling girl, are way cuter.

As my side of the family would say “Sebiji muka bapa dia” (loosely translated as “she's the spitting image of her father”).

Something new you learnt this week? You sure can show your Nana a big SMILE!

Ps/ Incidentally, you like it when I hum New York New York or Light My Fire (by The Doors and not Take That), that my darling is a good mix of your father and I.

PPs/ Willow was feeling a bit out of sorts when we first brought you home. She's now gotten used to you being around and is in fact quite protective, although she wants to come and lay with the three of us in bed!
