Dear Bobby,
It's way past midnight and I have been musing. About how Willow loves you the most. I am perplexed that after 2 years of buying her fresh fish at the market and yummy cat tidbits from the petshop in an attempt to win her heart, she still tolerates me at best. When you are reading the papers, swimming or exercising, she patiently sits with you. Even when you are doing the downward-facing dog, she gazes at you with soft doe eyes.
When Willow and her sister Alexander first came to live with us, they were the cutest most lovable kittens in the world. Now after 2 litters, Willow has turned into a young mama, a bit tired and weary, its-my-way-or-the-highway, grumpy kind of cat and fiercely protective of her wee ones. Although when she's in heat, she slinks all over you practically purring, "DON'T you wish your GIRLFRIEND was HOT LIKE ME", and could easily be the 7th member of the Pussycat Dolls.
You know how I've always thought that when Willow is wagging her tail at me it is a sign of tenderness on her part? I thought wrong. All the cat behavioral experts says that it means that your cat wants to do two things at once and cannot decide which one i.e. I want to ignore you and Hmm, I am hungry. Feed me.
But I try. I pet her, she is indifferent towards me but zones out in bliss. Then she perks up and rushes to the kitchen door when she hears your car in the driveway. In your absence, every time she looks at me I am positive she is thinking, "Eh you, where's the other one?". Oh she can be such a self-serving wench.
And she's a funny thing in her own way, our Willow. She keeps me company, yet completely ignoring me, when you are away. I think she misses you too.
Love, Emma xx
P.S. Xander's been out chasing cute little sparrows again. She's a hunter, that one. And the neighbours kids have been shooting fireworks into the pool. I have plans for a kickass retaliation.
