L - R: Zimmie, Greg, Hazim, Nisa, Amirah
Friday evening I brought Zimmie and his mates out for some Marhaban Ramadan Charcoal Style BBQ Skewer Buffet Sungkai at the Charcoal BBQ & Grill, Le Gallery Suites in Batu Satu.
I thought the kids would enjoy the novelty of raising the Green Flag on the table and have waiters bring a constant stream of food until you raise the Red Flag. The waiters bring a variety of meats (Grilled lamb, chicken and beef, Mongolian Beef, Tandoori Lamb, Pandan Chicken), seafood (squid, prawn, fish) and vegetables, on long metal skewers right to your table. And all this accompanied by a buffet of rice, veggies, pasta, bread, salad, fruits and desserts. At B$29.90 for adults and for children below 12 only B$1 per year, its pretty worth it. Especially if you have a big stomach and love meat. The service staff with their excellent manners, and bearing BBQ skewers, is also a plus.
I figured three growing teen boys could do some damage to the BBQ and Buffet. And I was right. There was a competition between the boys as to who could eat the most. I think they pretty much ingested meat equivalent to the weight of a cow. Not to mention enough cakes to stay awake for 2 days. Due to the competition we stayed long enough to make the staff nervous. All evening I kept a watchful eye on the boys. You would too, with girls that pretty. But I would like to think that I am a cool mom so I gave the teens a bit of space and went outside to sip my double expresso, nervously tap the table and peer inside every few minutes.
In between being cool and eagle-eyed, I also managed to snap a picture of a worried Ms DJ trying to choose a winning karaoke song for herself with the aid of RA's machine.
And now I feel insomnia setting in.
I took the family to Charcoal two nights ago, and the food was très délicieux indeed! Only one thing spoilt it.... More at http://reeda.multiply.com/journal/item/120
