Don't Lie To Your Mom

A young man called Peter invited his mother for dinner.  During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how handsome Peter's flat mate was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between the two, and this only made her more curious.  Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Peter and his flat mate than met the eye.  Reading his mom's thoughts, Peter volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Simon & I are just flat mates".

About a week later, Simon came to Peter saying, "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the frying pan, you don't suppose she took it do you?" "Well, I doubt it, but I'll e-mail her just to be sure," Said Peter, so he sat down and wrote:  Dear mother, I'm not saying that you "did" take the frying pan from my house, I'm not saying that you "did not" take the frying pan, but the fact remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love Peter. 

Several days later, Peter received an e-mail from his mother which read:  Dear son, I'm not saying that you "do" sleep with Simon, and I'm not saying that you "do not" sleep with Simon, but the fact remains that if he was sleeping in his own bed, he would have found the frying pan by now.  Love Mom.

Its The Day Before

Monday.  And its always a little bit tired, restful, quiet, happy, and unhappy, because guess who is just around the corner.  Especially at this time of the night.

Michael Jackson's expose is on Astro.  His parents look good for their age and I don't want to comment on his allegations.  All I can say is that I prefer the Michael Jackson who wasn't white.

Last night we had a birthday dinner for MatBon at Nyonyas at Delima Square.  The duck was excellent!  There was some singing and laughter and good food.  Sunday was spent sleeping in, lunch at home in pyjamas, C.S.I., polo sunday and dinner with ol' Mr. Freeman at Vintage Rose in Kiulap.

In bed now.  The husband sleeps and snores next to me.  I choose not to be upset by it today, because you know, sometimes we can.  Its just some cooing anyway...

In Bed

with the Astro on, my laptopl on my lap and the husband on my left.  Life is good folks.

The husband and I just returned from our Singapore weekend.  Jules, Bern and SP, you guys were the stars of our trip.  Oh, and Auntie D, Sophie!, Uncle HC, Marilyn & Saik, too.  I have never met such a woman like Auntie D, Uncle HC who must be man enough for her, Sophie! who is just so beautiful and smart for a 6 year old and Marilyn & Saik whom I want the husband & I to evolve into.

Singapore, this time around, was different.  I was a wife.  Myuzim's shoe size grew two sizes.  Fidbit is someone who I could count on to take care of my son.  Good job Fid.  The husband develops patience with me.

Work after Singapore was same old.  Same old.

Valentine's Day was spent with dear friends, M & A.  I had flowers, indian curry, palak paneers galore

Friday was sociable.  A, the husband & I went to CJ Lai's and Jaclyn's annual CNY's Open House.  They have such a pretty garden.  Cee and H.Kee was there.  I have always like Cee.  We left to drive straight over to Babss & MatBon's for some good company. 

I'm home now.  And I still have the Astro on, my laptop on my lap and the husband on my left.

Happiest Owners Live In

Bungalows!

"There is no place like home. And that is particularly true if you live in a bungalow.

Bungalow dwellers are the most contented homeowners, according to new research conducted to find the happiest home in Britain.

It found that a bigger home was not necessarily a happier one with the most contented living in a home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small garden and, crucially, no stairs.

The top billing for bungalows might explain why they are the most sought-after property type in Britain despite representing just two per cent of the housing stock.

The study, which was commissioned by Halifax General Insurance, used 12 factors to determine the home happiness, ranging from crime rate to decor.

David Rochester, the senior pricing manager at Halifax, said: "As one of the biggest home insurers, we found factors such as crime rate, privacy and sense of community have a more direct impact on happiness.

"It just so happens that bungalows fulfil much of the criteria that make a home happy. They tend to be in areas with a strong sense of community and that makes an enormous difference."

Home happiness is directly linked to age, with the over 50s having significantly happier homes than their younger counterparts.

Most happy homeowners are found in the Midlands with 31 per cent rating their homes 10 out of 10. The North West had the lowest with just 12 per cent."

What Is Better

Than a public holiday?

Its TWO public holidays back-to-back!

We had a chinese (but of course) lunch with the folks and J&J at Dynasty this afternoon.  Came straight home afterwards and proceeded to do what we like and do best.  Mong the day away.

Last night we had a swell time at M's moms' house...the Lambakians, J&J, M's mom and brother Yun plus all the kiddies. We had a big feast consisting of about 12 to 13 courses!  Myumyum.  M's mommy told us our fortunes just as she did last year but we got pressies this year from her to counter all the bad "chi".  Its so sweet of her.

And I learned how to play Rummy with chinese tiles as we heralded in the Rooster year.

So okay, last Saturday night the husband and I became social butterflies and went to Dr.L & P's annual CNY dinner at the Sheraton Hotel.  Had a boogie and some good food.  For the 1st time in a long while we partied like teenagers and came home at 3am.  Good stuff.

Then on Sunday we had steamboat at HQ.  More good food and company.

Sorry guys, instead of these long bi-monthly recaps I should really try and update more.

But what the hey and anyhoo...

A perfect "road trip" movie for a lazy public holiday.

I like.  I like quite a lot.  Paul Giamatti is superbly morose, Paul H Church makes you wish for a buddy like him and Virgie Madsen made me wish I was an actor just so I could deliver the best lines in this movie:

"I started to appreciate the life of wine, that it's a living thing, that it connects you more to life. I like to think about what was going on the year the grapes were growing. I like the think about how the sun was shining that summer and what the weather was like. I think about all those people who tended and picked the grapes. And if it's an old wine, how many of them must be dead by now. I love how wine continues to evolve, how if I open a bottle the wine will taste different than if I had uncorked it on any other day, or at any other moment. A bottle of wine is like life itself - it grows up, evolves and gains complexity. Then it tastes so fucking good."

What a pity Sandra O ran away with the SAG award for Best Ensemble
